    ImmGenDC Study

We are looking for study participants to better understand the influence of genetics and the environment on our immune system.

The human immune system varies greatly between individuals and is shaped by our genetics, the environment, and the interaction between both. Despite intensive research, the underlying molecular mechanisms for this high variability are still not fully understood. We are particularly interested in the genetic influence on the immune response and aim to study the immune cells in the blood in this study. The goal is to better characterize the cellular and interindividual heterogeneity in the function and regulation of our immune cells.

    Study objectives:

    • Find explanations for interindividual heterogeneity of the immune response
    • Better characterize human immune cells
    • Understand the genetic influence on the immune system

For the study, we require a one-time blood donation of 100 ml (1/5 of a normal blood donation) and will ask that you to fill out a questionnaire. You will receive 20 Euros as compensation.

The following criteria should be met to participate in the study:

    • Between 18 and 40 years old
    • In good health (e.g., no recent acute infections or major surgeries, no immune conditions or cancer)
    • No vaccinations in the last 2 months
    • No blood donations in the last 3 months
    • Not currently pregnant or have given birth in the last 6 months

The study is being conducted on multiple continents; therefore, the Munich cohort currently primarily includes individuals of European descent.
